PUGG is the Purdue University Gamers Group. We are an officially recognized Purdue student organization. |
Our purpose is to sponsor, support, and attend as many local and regional LAN parties as possible. We are also striving to be a local focal point for gamers around Purdue. We are traditionally computer gamers, but we are also getting into console gaming. Our forums are a place for gamers to come together and discuss LAN parties, console games, or anything else. |
Wait...What is a LAN Party anyway? |
First off, LAN stands for Local Area Network. This is when several computers are hooked together in the same area to share files or data. Now, a "LAN party" is when several people bring their computers to the same big area and hook computers together to play multiplayer games, share files, and have a good time. |
Do I have to be a member to attend these LAN parties? |
Yes. Unless you are a resident in the hall hosting the LAN party, you must be a PUGG member. There are exceptions occasionally though. If you are a registered member on our forums you will be notified of any public events. |
What should I bring to a PUGG LAN party? |
Bring your computer, headphones, game consoles, and all the games you might want to play with others. Don't forget your network cable and surge protector/power strip. If you have extras of these or other computer hardware someone might benefit from, please bring it along. A few people inevitably forget something and if you have a spare it helps out immensely. Don't bring computer speakers (too loud and consume too much power), drugs, or alcohol. |

How much does PUGG Membership cost? |
Membership dues are $15 for the 2008-2009 academic year. T-Shirts this year will be ordered later and will be $10. They will be the same as last year. |
What do you use your membership dues for? |
We will use the money we get from membership dues to support our LAN parties. This is usually in the form of purchasing new equipment or prizes for tournaments. |
What good is PUGG Membership? |
Being a member lets you: - have a say in what PUGG does. You can come to the meetings and even run for office
- get into any special events at a reduced cost or even free
- compete for prizes at events
- win door prizes at events
- use club resources when going to remote gatherings, such as a rented van to travel
- get on the club mailing list, where information regarding upcoming events is heard first
- put an official club on your resume, sure it's cheesy, but hey, it's an extracurricular activity

Do you guys have your own (insert game name here) server? |
Yes! We have servers for several games. Visit http://servers.pugg.net/ for more info. |
Where did PUGG come from? |
In the Spring of 2000, the founding fathers of PUGG met each other while competing at ACM's QuakeFest. After a full day of gaming, we discussed how it would be great to have more events like QuakeFest instead of the one or two that happened each year. Near the end of the semester we held two small scale LAN parties at McCutcheon hall, and the seeds of PUGG we sewn. During Fall 2001, the paper was pushed, the forms were filled out, and the PUGG Constitution was made. PUGG was an official university organization. |
